What is the history of speculation on alternate histories, and how have they altered the course of media art history?

From medieval mythologies we are familiar with hybrid creatures like the Centaur and the Griffon. The creation of these fantasy beings denies in itself the very existence of species as we define the term today.

There are 12 adorable sensor boxes called, adorably, PuffTrons, that are arriving at Machine Project sometime this week. Said PuffTrons are going to be placed around Echo Park in discreet locations. Once activated, they will transmit data about local air quality over the web to create a pollution map of the city.
