Ven Lama Phuntsho
/ Translator, Gaden Shartse Monastic College /
Ven Phuntsho was born in 1966 in Thimpu, Bhutan. He began
school at a very young age. In 1987, he became a monk in Bhutan where he studied
elementary Buddhist teachings. In pursuit of more advanced and intensive teachings,
he went to India in 1990 and enrolled in Gaden Shartse Monastery. He worked
in the Shartse library for two years, and then became the assistant to His
Eminence Khensur Rinpoche Jampa Yeshe. Together they have traveled to Europe,
Singapore, Malaysia, and the United States, during which time Ven Phuntsho
was the translator. Additionally, he helped to coordinate and acted as translator
on the 8th World Tour "Sacred Earth and Healing Arts of Tibet". Currently,
he is actively involved in the development of the Pokang Khangtsen.
