This day was simply really cool. Tyler Adams had the best lecture so far and the anechoic chamber expanded my mind. As I sat through this day, I felt as if something inside me was swelling up with this hope, this wonderful excitement about how sounds can change my existence in the world. Now I do not mean to get all theological, but this day really created excitement within me.
First of all, the anechoic chamber made me realize the beauty of senses. We sat in this room where sound can not bounce off walls and light can not enter. I sat there, suspended on a wire film, and I just appreciated. Appreciated the stillness that I had just experience. This reminded me actually of a previous conversation I once had at the hospital. I volunteer at a hospital and go around talking to people and I talked to this one lady for the good part of an hour about the importance of rest. Rest for the mind is extremely important. Its a chance for our conscious to relive itself of having to intake senses, having to deal with the ornate. Like how the basis of matter is nanoparticles, I believe the basis of a healthy mind is stillness. Let the troubles melt around and through you, cleansing until there is a spotless mind. This is how I felt in that chamber.
The lecture by Tyler Adams was also really interesting. He talked about the history of synthetic sound and the advances people have made. I really like music, and I guess that shows with my interest in this lecture. Learning about the auto tune and the sound poetry and the basis of sound was mind expanding.
