Machiko Kusahara is a media scholar and curator. She has published internationally in the field of art, technology, culture and history, including essays on Japanese games and mobile phone culture. She taught at UCLA in 2002-03, and is currently a professor at Waseda University, Tokyo. Kusahara holds a Ph. D. in engineering from University of Tokyo. Her recent research studies the correlation between digital media and traditional culture.

She has published many articles on professional PUBLICATIONSs in art, design and culture. including Quarterly InterCommunication, AXIS, BT, Art Asia Pacific, and Kunstforum Inernational. Essays in media art and culture have been published from MIT Press, Springer, and other academic publisher.
