Film 'Overview' by Planetary Collective: April 12

Planetary Collective's film "Overview" will be shown as part of the AstroArt Programme in collaboration with Astronomers Without Borders (AWB) Global Astronomy Month (GAM) on April 12, from 14:30 to 16:30 UT.

The film, which has garnered more than 1.7 million plays on Vimeo since its premiere at Harvard University on December 7, 2012, features interviews with five astronauts and portrays the enormous power of the Overview Effect (the cognitive shift resulting from seeing the Earth from space and in space) in words and images.

The showing of the 19-minute film - which will be in Google Hangout format, and will be followed by a panel discussion featuring Apollo 14 astronaut Edgar Mitchell, shuttle astronaut Byron Lichtenberg, and Overview Institute co-founder David Beaver - is being sponsored
jointly by AWB, the Overview Institute, and Yuri?s Night.

"We are very pleased that "Overview" is being shown as part of our film festival", said Mike Simmons, founder and president of AWB. "We believe that it captures the essence of AWB's message, which is "One People, One Sky"'

Loretta Whitesides, co-founder of Yuri's Night, commented, "Yuri's Night honors the first person to experience the Overview Effect, and we are delighted to have this powerful film be a part of this year's celebration".

Frank White, author of The Overview Effect: Space Exploration and Human Evolution, will moderate the event, and Guy Reid, director of "Overview", will also speak as part of the session.
